The increase results especially from the combined effect of favou- rable climatic conditions and the improvement of farming techniques. Exports increased by 1.3% and prices fell by 2.6 %. The first half of 2015 and year on year, exports were 6.5 % up. At the end of the year production might have increased by 8.3%.CRUDE PALM OILIn 2014, the industrial production of crude palm oil increased by 11.7% to reach 127,321 tons. Besides, 313.5 ha of planting areas were set up and 300,000 pre-germinated seeds were pur- chased and distributed to nurserymen to develop 1,800 ha of plantation. Moreover, SOCAPALM, the main company of the field strongly invested in 2013 and 2014 for the acquisition of short-cycle and high-efficiency plant material, expansion of plantations and renewal of rolling stock.In 2014, the deficit is estimated at 200,000 tons. To remedy this, the government authorized the importation of 65,000 tons crude palm oil exempted from tax and customs duties.SUBSISTENCE CROPSIn 2014, food-producing agriculture grew by 4.2%.
