The fall is more notable in urban areas than rural areas.STRUCTURE BY GENDERIt has been noticed since 1976 that Cameroon’s population is made up predominantly of women. However, as years go by, there is a gradual ten- dency towards male/female parity.Cameroon’s population should reach 38 million in 2037AGE STRUCTUREThe main features of the population in 2010 remain its youth. Median age of the population is 17.7 years and average age is 21.1 years. The less than 15 represent 43.6% of the popula- tion, while the less than 25 represent 64.2%. It’s worth mentioning that the ratio of aged persons (60 and above) is not less significant, for it is 5.0%.Regardless of the area of residence, sex ratios curves (number of men for 100 women) by age group show that between 0-15 years, there are more boys than girls. This situation is explained by the fact there are more boys coming on earth than girls. The trend is reversed after 15 years owing to the higher death rate among the male population. After 60 years, we witness a gradual decrease in the num- ber of men, a situation that worsens with age.Development of Cameroon’s population from 1976 to 20101976198720052010MALE3 754 9915 173 3728 632 0369 599 224FEMALE3 908 2555 320 2838 831 8009 806 8767 663 24610 493 65517 463 83619 406 10096,1 2,997,2 2,997,7 2,897,9 2,6* In percentage
