DEVELOPING YOUNG AGRICULTURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
It is implemented with the support of the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture and aims at creating nearly 600 companies in agri- business for the benefit of around 1500 young graduates, of which, 40% of women having access to credit.
PROJECT COORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT
ZONES OF INTERVENTIONS AND BENEFICIARIES
The Project covers 5 administrative regions, namely: Centre, East, South, Littoral and South- West regions.
Direct beneficiaries of the Project are: (I) Structured and organized cooperative actors, networks of professional organizations involved in the targeted value chains; (II) young graduates interested in agro-business; (III) agricultural SMEs/SMIs enjoying some credibility and agro- industries.
INTERVENTION STRATEGIES
The project aims essentially at intervening at the level of the various links of the value chains to remove the constraints which are with their deve- lopment. The implementation of the actions of the PD-CVA follows the “Faire-Faire” approach, with the support of certain partners, namely:
• IRAD, for the research component to ensure the availability of seeds quality in sufficient quantity for the three sectors;
• IITA, for the implementation of the Youth Entrepreneurship component;
• The Plantain Banana Relaunch Programme (PRFP), for the implementation of the technical activities of the plantain banana sector;
• The Village Palm Groves Development Project (PDPV), for activities related to the oil palm sector;
• RHORTICAM, for the pineapple sector;
The project could possibly select on the basis of the competitiveness, other technical partners whose lines of intervention will be considered relevant for the implementation of other important actions likely to have an impact on the improve- ment of the chains of values.
