through the creation of a new company, contribu- tion, merger, joint venture or other; the rental, pur- chase, sale of all buildings, land; the establishment of any industrial and commercial establishment or enterprise of any kind related to the aforesaid objects; the execution of all public service opera- tions or missions related to the object of the enter- prise and directly or indirectly related to the activi- ties defined above or likely to promote the develop- ment of livestock, which the Government could entrust to him according to contract documents.
DEVELOPMENT OF LIVESTOCK COMPANIES
SODEPA also intends to ensure the promotion, exploitation and development of all breeding and production enterprises of agricultural and animal seeds necessary for breeding.
In particular, it is responsible for: setting up ope- rational intervention structures, creating pastoral vocations in people and making economic ope- rators available: high-yielding progenitors for meat and milk; animal seeds and embryos for artificial insemination; seeds of value-added forage species for animal nutrition; slaughter- houses, warehouses and butchers.
Regarding slaughterhouses, SODEPA has three of the industrial type: In Wakwa-Ngaoundere (Adamawa), with a slaughter capacity of 250 cattle per day; in Etoudi-Yaoundé (Centre), with a slaughter capacity of 400 cattle, 200 sheep and goats and 100 pigs per day; in Bonendale- Douala (Littoral), with a slaughter capacity of 200 cattle, 200 sheep and goats, and 100 pigs per day. In addition, there are mobile abattoirs for pigs and small ruminants. Besides, the butcher shops of the Etoudi and Bonendale slaughter- houses sell meat at the retail level.
Under the control of MINEPIA, SODEPA is plan- ning the establishment of pilot butcheries that comply with health and food safety standards within the framework of a partnership with the municipalities. Note that the slaughterhouses of Yaoundé and Douala have trucks to transport car- casses in good hygienic conditions.
Work in a slaughterhouse is not limited to slaugh- ter. There is also a service whose role is the deve- lopment of products other than meat: bone and blood meal; meat meal of chickens and oxen.
FOR QUALITY MEAT
SODEPA's main concern is to provide people and consumers with this important source of protein for a healthy and balanced diet, 3which is good quality meat, and under hygienic conditions.
It is on this basis, and in accordance with the will of the Head of State, that SODEPA now has infrastructures and rolling refrigerated equipment transferred within the framework of a Three-year Emergency Plan for the acceleration of growth (PLANUT). We have thus:
• The Yaoundé-Etoudi cold store, which has a storage capacity of 10,000 carcasses of 200 kg of beef and a volume of 6,000 m3;
• The Ngaoundéré-Wakwa cold store has a sto- rage capacity of 2,500 carcasses of 200 kg of beef and a volume of 1,400 m3;
• The Kribi cold store, which has a storage capacity of 5,000 carcasses and a volume of 3,000 m3;
• The Ebolowa cold store, which has a storage capacity of 2,500 carcasses and a volume of 1,400 n
