Crude petroleum
For the year 2016, production of crude petro- leum stood at 33.7 million barrels against 34.9 million barrels in 2015. The decrease is mainly
due to the decline observed in the production of mature oilfields.
Natural gas
In 2016, natural gas production remained vir- tually stable at 12.6 billion cubic feet. Natural

gas supplies to industries were on the increase by 22% on the previous year. In the first half of 2017, natural gas production was 6.9 billion cubic feet, up 7.8% on the same period of 2016.
The FLNG Project for the Installation of a Floating Plant off Kribi was furthered in November 2017 by the SNH. Related work for the conversion of the ves- sel has been completed. The process for extension of the Bipaga gas treatment facility is 91% complete.
Downstream petroleum products
In 2016, the production of clean petroleum pro- ducts is 1,360,150 metric tons, up 1.7% from 2015. We recorded the following respective increases by product: four-star, 3.5%; kerosene, 2.8%, and gas-oil 0.2%. Fuel-oil production increased by 15.8%, while that of butane and distillate fell by 5.8% and 1.1%, respectively.
In the first-half of 2017 and year-on-year, produc- tion of petroleum products fell, due to a three- month shutdown of SONARA to restructure the production line. By the end of the year, the pro- duction of clean products could increase by 39.6% to stand at 1,898,582 metric tons.
In 2016, consumer releases of four-star and fuel- oil 1500 are respectively 2.5% and 4.2% higher than in 2015; those of gas-oil, jet A1, kerosene
and fuel-oil 3500 decreased by 1.9%, 4%, 0.7% and 70% respectively. Supply of domestic gas to the domestic market is estimated at 92,661 metric tons, of which 70,805 tons from import. Domestic gas consumption amounted to 93,922 metric tons, up 0.5% from 2015. PERIOD
In the first-half of 2017 and year-on-year, excluding domestic gas, the quantities consumed of downs- tream petroleum products are down. This develop- ment follows the unfavorable economic situation observed in the sub-region. Domestic gas produc- tion was 835 metric tons, down 92.8% on the same period of 2016. Imports increased by 52.9% and consumed quantities increased by 9.2%
In the first half of 2017, estimation of crude petro- leum production was 14.6 million barrels, down 18.9% year-on-year. At the end of the year, it would have fallen by 14.2% to 28.9 million bar- rels. Exploration work carried out in the Rio del Rey basin has revealed additional reserves esti- mated at 24.5 million barrels.
CHEMICAL INDUSTRY
It remains underdeveloped and consequently, many products as fertilizers need to be imported or simply packaged locally (varnishes, glues, paints, detergents).
