A PUBLIC BROADCASTING SERVICE
Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) has an advertising agency, the CRTV Marketing and Communication Agency (CMCA) and an Institute for Training and Conservation of Audiovisual Heritage (IFCPA). Its equipment and human resources enables her to meet the training needs of Radio and TV in Central Africa. With CRTV Productions, a structure enti- rely dedicated to production, the broadcasting office can satisfy a demand in diversified and quality production.
As part of its tasks, the Cameroon Radio and Television Broadcasting Office is responsible for:
• Designing, performing alone or in co-produc- tions the broadcasting of news programmes, audiovisual products or educational, cultural or fun programmes;
• Acquiring, by purchase, exchange, donation and legacy, audiovisual products or programmes in accordance with its programme policy;
• Ensuring the preservation of the national audio- visual heritage; and carrying out research on audiovisual creations;
• Providing professional training for audiovisual professionals; and protecting the reception of television signals by the public.
• Operating and maintaining networks and faci- lities for TV broadcasting.
Besides, the CRTV is authorized by the decree that organizes it to lead, subject to payment of its services, special agreements with public adminis- trations, associations and natural or legal persons of private law and (2). It can rent out antenna slots for brand advertising.
DATES AND THE MOST SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES
1941: Advent of radio in Cameroon through Radio-Douala;
July 1955: Birth of Radio Yaoundé, which later became Radio Cameroon;
March 24, 1985: Experimental broadcasing of the first images of the CTV during the Cameroon National Union’s (UNC) 4th ordinary congress in Bamenda;
December 23, 1985: Creation of the Cameroon Television (CTV);
April 26, 1986: creation by an ordinance (n0 86/005 / PR) of the President of the Republic of the National Television Office (CTV), an industrial and commercial parastatal company (CRTV);
