                bal trade (15.2%) against 16.6% in 2015. Having occupied the third rank previously, France comes second; the Netherlands (3rd after 5th); Belgium (8th after 10th). Spain, (6th) and the United States (9th) maintain their respective rank. Portugal, 8th in 2015 cannot keep the ran- king as Togo comes in at the tenth rank.
MAJOR CUSTOMERS
In 2016, the Netherlands remain Cameroon's biggest customer. Italy occupies the 2nd pre- viously held by India, which now is at the 3rd place. South Africa 8th and Malaysia 9th are among the top ten. The United States are back in the ranking at the 10th place.
In this area, Nigeria is the leading partner, des- pite the reduction of its importance both in terms of exports (33.1%) against (36.5% in 2015) as in imports (50.6%) against (62.2%). They were followed by Togo with 33.5% of exports and 24% of imports.
The main products exported are: heavy fuel oils (22 billion), raw and sawn wood (9.1 billion) and, household soaps (1.2 billion). Imports from the area include crude petroleum oils (304 bil- lion), fuel and lubricants (78 billion), fish (25.5 bil- lion), beverages (2 billion) and shoes (1.1billion).
NORTH AMERICA
North America occupies the fifth rank among Cameroon’s trading partner in 2016, despite a drop of its importance in imports (4.6% against 5.5% in 2015). The deficit with the zone is redu- ced by 44.3 billion compared to 2015 to stand at 82.2 billion. Exports fell by 15.3% and imports by 28%. Deficits are reduced with the main partners in the zone.
Exports include cocoa paste (18 billion), raw and sawn wood (9.2 billion), rubber (4.5 billion) and heavy fuel oils (3.1 billion). The main pro- ducts imported are: wheat and meslin (29.5 bil- lion), centrifugal pumps (10.3 billion), machines parts and electrical and mechanical appliances (8.1 billion), and rice (5.6 billion).
